ABOUT

Seacoast 5700 is a full-service waterfront condominium with 171 units and a wide range of amenities. Located in the heart of Miami Beach, the building is situated on the Indian Creek waterway with views of La Gorce Golf Course and Club, the mansions on Millionaire’s Row, and the Miami skyline on one side and portions of the Atlantic Ocean and the beach across the street on the other side.
Originally constructed in 1968 by nationally-known builder/developer Alexander Muss, the building initially stood as a residential hotel until developers Suncoast Towers V Associates converted Seacoast 5700 into a condominium building in 1995. Known for its high-quality construction of residential buildings in Miami Beach and other parts of South Florida during the vibrant years following WWII, Alexander Muss & Sons began working with the area’s top architects and developers after the family moved to Miami from New York in 1962. With a family history of building housing in New York since the 1880s, the Muss firm’s first project in Miami was the Seacoast Towers South designed by legendary mid-century Miami architect Morris Lapidus, best-known for his design of the nearby iconic Fontainebleau Hotel. Seeing an unmet need for “moderately priced luxury apartments in prime locations,” Muss & Sons followed with the construction of other residential buildings on the Beach. By 1969, the firm had completed five additional Seacoast buildings, including Seacoast 5700, as well as a 16-story apartment house in Fort Lauderdale designed by Charles McKirahan, who had previously designed Seacoast Towers North (now called the Alexander).
Known and respected for their family management approach and building skills, the Musses built and stayed on with unprecedented personal involvement in their buildings. According to a mid-20th-century historic designation report prepared by the City of Miami Beach Planning Department in 2009, “every Muss building has been a smashing success…attributed to the beauty of the buildings, their lavish resort facilities, the plush splendor of hotel-like lobbies and social rooms.”

Seacoast 5700’s well-planned, generously proportioned apartments range from one- to three-bedroom units as well as three penthouses. Its recently refreshed lobby and grounds preserve the best of its classic mid-century past while bringing its decor and function elegantly into the present.
